Members of the Stop Fitzhugh Concert Venue coalition are raising concerns about the impact a proposed concert venue would have on emergency vehicle response times and traffic safety on Fitzhugh Road. Traffic fatalities are happening in record numbers in Austin, while EMS continues to struggle with staffing shortages.
The proposed 5,000-seat concert venue would host events on a consistent basis throughout the year, and adding thousands of concertgoers exponentially increases the potential for catastrophe.
The narrow and windy Fitzhugh Road is not designed to deal with heavy traffic and these issues would only further strain EMS response in the local community.
