The rich and thick tonkotsu broth paired with slow-cooked carnitas earned Ramen Del Barrio (1700 W. Parmer Lane) a spot in the Best New Restaurant category. Open since February 2023, this North Austin gem lies at the intersection of Japanese and Mexican technique.
Meanwhile Tavel Bristol-Joseph of Canje (1914 East 6th St.), Joseph Gomez of Con Todo tacos (mobile food truck) and Tracy Malechek-Ezekiel of Birdie’s (2944 East 12th St.) are among the 14 folks vying for Best Chef: Texas.
