Throughout February, the Austin Public Library will host a variety of programming highlighting the contributions of African Americans in the arts. Events include:
• African Storytelling and Drumming with Elizabeth Kahura, a native of East Kenya.
• Slam Poetry Workshop with award-winning poet Andre Bradford (a.k.a. S.C. Says), author of “Golden Brown Skin.”
• The Virtual Graphic Novel Book Club will be reading “Last On His Feet: Jack Johnson and the Battle of the Century” by Adrian Matejka and Youssef Daoudi.
• A weekly film series highlighting the Black experience will unfold on Thursdays at the Hampton Branch at Oak Hill Library.
