The Austin Board of REALTORS ® hosted the 2023 Central Texas Housing Summit to address the state of the Central Texas housing market. Local and national housing experts weighed in on affordable housing, housing inventory and the future of Austin’s housing market.
At the summit, ABoR’s housing economist, Clare Losey, Ph.D., who leads ABoR Research – the economic research and publication arm of ABoR – released the 2023 Central Texas Buy vs. Rent Index. The index, which analyzes the tradeoff between purchasing a home or renting and investing in stocks, found homeownership tends to be more financially favorable and generates more wealth.
