With the Fourth of July weekend right around the corner, Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2 has some firework safety tips to help the community have a safe holiday:
1. Never lean over fireworks when lighting them.
2. Soak fireworks in water before throwing them in the trash.
3. Only light fireworks outside on a flat surface that far from any homes or buildings. Don’t light fireworks near dry grass or leaves.
4. Fireworks are poisonous to pets. Be sure not to leave behind any used fireworks where pets (yours or someone else’s) spend time.
