An Austin music legend in the making

by The 100 Companies

In 2019, Jackie Venson made music history when she became the first Black woman to win Best Guitarist at the Austin Music Awards.

The daughter of a doctor and a musician, the young Austinite was classically trained on piano and didn’t strum her first six string until senior year at Berklee College of Music. The rest is music (history) to our collective ears.

Venson’s newest album is aptly called “Evolution of Joy” (2023) – an overhaul of an earlier album rife with epic growth for Venson and her band.

Catch her soulful R&B sounds live this summer as she tours the country.
