International homebuyers continue to flock to Austin

by The 100 Companies

Despite the winter solstice hovering on the horizon, Austin remains a hot housing destination. According to the 2022 Central Texas International Homebuyers Report, foreign buyers contributed $613 million to the region’s economy from April 2021-March 2022 – with buyers from India contributing a whopping 21%.

The report, released earlier this month, showed Mexico (10%), China (6%) and Canada (4%) rounding out the top countries of origin.

“Our quality of life and economic opportunity make us one of the most desirable places to live in the world,” said 2022 Austin Board of REALTORS® President Cord Shiflet – a sure sign of Austin’s ongoing evolution.
