According to the Austin American-Statesman, “Austin’s boom is far from over.” This good news comes with challenges, though, including recruiting employees to keep up with our region’s growth.
In addition to tapping into resources like Workforce Solutions Capital Area or Skillpoint Alliance, it’s important to talk with employees about their needs.
I recently spoke at Texas State University and asked students what they want from an employer. They highlighted professional advancement and a relationship with their supervisor. They never mentioned money, which surprised me.
My takeaway – we can’t read employees’ minds. Providing meaningful employment experiences should start with open communication.
