Google uplifts Texas-based, Black-led innovators

by The 100 Companies

In an ongoing effort to bolster the next generation of Black innovators, Google for Startups Black Founders Fund recently granted four $100,000 non-equity cash awards to promising Black-led startups and venture capital firms in Texas.

“We’re excited to see how they continue to grow their businesses,” Head of Google for Startups Jewel Burks Solomon said of the recipients – which included Joseph Akintolayo of Deposits.com and Marcus Cooksey of Duke.ai, both from Dallas.

The $5 million fund seeks to close the wealth gap and increase economic opportunity for promising startup founders who receive a disproportionately low percentage of investment.
